Welcome to Battlefield
Battlefield High School is a state-of-the-art facility located in the northwestern part of Prince William County, Virginia. Established in 2004, BHS opened as Prince William County's ninth high school with Bull Run Mountain providing a spectacular backdrop. Over 250 staff members serve over 2,600 students in grades nine through twelve in delivering a comprehensive program of academics, arts, and athletics. The campus includes one primary academic building, a separate security residence, an observation tower, and the athletic stadium complex. The academic facility is approximately 276,000 square feet in size, is located on a 79.77-acre site, designed by Moseley Architects. Construction took place beginning in March 2002, with the facility opening on August 19, 2004. Approximately 95% of graduating BHS students matriculate to a college or university.
At Battlefield, student learning is our chief priority, and we believe that all students should learn to their fullest potential. Students will develop individual talents, critical thinking, and technology skills by being actively engaged in the learning process. Continuous commitment to improvement ensures that out students are well-rounded, self-directed, life-long learners. By maintaining a safe and optimum learning environment, we provide the opportunity for students to be successful. Promoting high standards and expectations, teachers, administrators, parents, and the community share the responsibility for advancing the school's mission.

The mathematics, language arts, sciences, and social studies departments all deliver rigorous, technology-integrated instruction differentiated for spanning a diversity of learning styles. Students are able to utilize a variety of audiovisual, adaptive, and special technology tools to enrich and enhance their learning. As the home of the Center for Information Technology, Battlefield prides itself on integrating technology across the curriculum, in all academic areas, providing every student a 21st century education.
Students from throughout Prince William County can apply to attend Battlefield to enroll in the IT Program, in which they will study intensive professional coursework spanning the Information Technology field, ranging from focuses in network engineering to digital art.
In addition to the traditional core departments, Battlefield offers outstanding instruction in (among other areas) Business, Finance, Marketing, Technical Education, Foreign Language (including Spanish, French, German, and Latin), Visual Art, Photography, Instrumental and Choral Music, Driver's Education, Health, Family and Consumer Sciences, and Physical Education. A robust Special Education department serves the needs of a variety of learners. The Library Media Center plays a vital and integrated role in delivering research-based instruction and resources. The Criminal Justice program - the only one of its kind in the area - provides a miniature police academy for students pursuing a career path in law enforcement. The Air Force JROTC provides an energetic program for students intent upon service.
